Responsible For
About the Role STEMCO is seeking an organized, analytical, and detail-oriented Accountant to oversee daily financial operations, regulatory tax compliance, general ledger reporting, and financial auditing. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining precise financial records, executing month-end close procedures, managing corporate tax filings (FBR / PRA), and supporting internal budget forecasting. You will work closely with leadership to ensure fiscal accuracy, audit readiness, and strict adherence to local accounting standards and tax regulations. Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Operations & General Ledger:
    • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR).
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow) in compliance with IFRS / local GAAP.
    • Execute end-of-month and end-of-year financial closing activities, accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
  • Taxation & Regulatory Compliance:
    • Manage full-year income tax return declarations and regulatory notices with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) via the Iris online portal and Tax Asaan app.
    • Prepare and file monthly Sales Tax / Withholding Tax returns with federal (FBR) and provincial revenue authorities (PRA).
    • Ensure strict compliance with local withholding tax regulations on vendor payments and payroll deductions.
  • Payroll & Banking Operations:
    • Process monthly payroll calculations, statutory deductions, employee reimbursements, and final settlements.
    • Coordinate daily corporate banking operations, electronic funds transfers (EFT), letter of credit (LC) documentation, and payment processing.
  • Audit, Budgeting & Internal Controls:
Prepare working papers, schedules, and reconciliations for external and internal annual financial audits.
    • Monitor operating budgets, analyze budget vs. actual variances, and report discrepancies to management.
    • Maintain robust internal financial controls and safeguard company financial records.
Additional Requirements
Experience Required Work Experience Duration:
  • Minimum Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in core accounting, general ledger maintenance, corporate taxation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Seniority Level: Mid-Senior level, capable of handling end-to-end month-close processes independently.
Key Functional Experience:
  • Tax Filing & Compliance: Direct experience preparing and submitting monthly/annual returns with federal (FBR) and provincial tax bodies, as well as handling regulatory notices/replies.
  • General Ledger & Financial Statements: Hands-on experience executing month-end closing, journal entries, depreciation schedules, and trial balance reconciliation.
  • Auditing & External Liaison: Prior experience assembling working paper files and supporting external audit teams during year-end financial audits.
  • Banking Operations: Managing day-to-day corporate banking operations, online portal approvals, vendor payments, salary disburse checks, and petty cash audits.

Education Required Minimum / Mandatory:
  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BS/BBA - Finance), Commerce (B.Com), or Accounting & Finance from an HEC-recognized institution.
  • Professional Stage: Active progression through professional accounting qualifications (e.g., ICAP CAF qualified/passed modules, ACCA Skill Level passed, or PIPFA membership).
Preferred / Optional:
  • Qualified Status: Fully qualified ACCA, ICMA, or ICAP finalist.
  • Specific Modules: Completion of key ICAP modules (CAF01 - Financial Accounting & Reporting I, CAF03 - Cost & Management Accounting, and CAF04 - Tax Practices).
